3.7 BILLION EURO INVESTED IN UKRAINE’S RENEWABLE ENERGY IN 2019
According to the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine, 3.7 billion euros were invested in 4,500 MW of renewable electricity in Ukraine. In particular, of which 73 MW, or 1.6%, was introduced using biomass / biogas.
In particular, last year it was commissioned: 3537 MW SES (78.5%); 637 MW wind farm (14.1%); 243 MW SECd (5.4%); 15 MW mini hydroelectric power station (0.33%).
In addition, in 2019 Ukraine took eighth place in the rating of investment attractiveness of the green energy of developing countries. According to BloombergNEF, this has been made possible thanks to the active conduct of business, investments and the introduction of the latest technologies in the field of renewable energy sources!
In total, over the past 5 years, more than 5,800 MW of capacities and about 4.9 billion euros of investments have been commissioned.
The implemented projects increased the total capacity of “clean” electricity in Ukraine by 3 times, namely, to 6.8 GW, which allows for the production of more than 8.4 billion kWh of electricity annually (about 5.5% of the total production) and provides electric energy of more than 3.3 million households.
“Also, thanks to renewable energy projects, harmful emissions into the atmosphere are reduced, in particular, 9,200,000 tons of CO2 per year, which is comparable to emissions of almost 4.5 million cars,” commented Yury Shafarenko, director of the Department of Renewable Energy Sources of the State Energy Efficiency Department.
